Plain-English definitions for the terminology used across Coach's Corner.
- Acca
- Short for accumulator, a bet that combines multiple selections into one wager, increasing odds with each added pick.
- Asian Handicap
- A handicap that eliminates the draw outcome by giving a team a fractional or whole advantage or disadvantage.
- Bankroll
- The total amount of money set aside for betting, used to manage wins and losses.
- Bookmaker Margin
- The percentage of total bets that a sportsbook expects to keep as profit, built into the odds.
- Both Teams To Score
- A bet on whether both teams will score at least one goal during the match.
- Cash Out
- A feature that lets you settle a bet before the event ends, locking in a profit or loss.
- Correct Score
- A bet that requires predicting the exact final score of a match.
- Double Chance
- A bet that covers two of the three possible match outcomes (win/draw, draw/away, or win/away) in one wager.
- Draw No Bet
- A bet that refunds your stake if the match ends in a draw, leaving only win or lose outcomes.
- First Goal Scorer
- A bet on which player will score the first goal in the match.
- Half-Time/Full-Time
- A bet that requires predicting both the result at half‑time and the final result of the match.
- Handicap
- An artificial advantage or disadvantage given to a team to level the playing field for betting.
- In-Play
- Betting that happens while a match is already in progress, with odds that update in real time.
- Juice
- The commission or fee that a sportsbook charges, reflected in the odds, also called vig.
- Line Movement
- Changes in the odds or point spread after the initial release, often due to betting action or news.
- Odds
- The chance of an outcome happening expressed as a number, determining how much a winning bet pays.
- Over/Under
- A bet on whether the total number of goals (or points) in a match will be more or less than a set line.
- Parlay
- A single bet that links two or more selections; all must win for the bet to pay out.
- Pre-Match
- Betting on a match before it starts, with odds set based on pre‑event analysis.
- Round Robin
- A type of system bet that creates all possible parlays from a chosen set of selections, covering many combinations.
- Stake
- The amount of money you put on a bet, which determines your potential payout.
- System Bet
- A bet that combines multiple selections into a series of smaller parlays, offering a win even if some selections lose.
- Value Bet
- A bet where the odds offered are higher than the true probability of the outcome, giving an edge.
- Vig
- The built‑in profit margin for the bookmaker, included in the odds you receive.
